“TIFFANY TALKS TOASTMASTERS!” – BLOG #6 (DECEMBER 2017)
Round 2 Club Officer Training
Winter is here and so is the 2nd Round of Club Officer Training. As District 30’s Program Quality Director, one of my main goals is to help effectively train every club officer and to provide them the tools necessary to be successful.
Attending Club Officer Training is critical to creating a successful club. When club officers are well-trained, they perform their duties and their members are better served. This makes the member experience more positive, which leads to a quality club experience and increased member retention. Without properly trained leaders at every level, clubs and districts cannot meet members’ needs or introduce the benefits of Toastmasters to others.
You may ask yourself “Why do I need to attend club officer training again if I was already trained during Round 1?” Well, Round 2 Club Officer Training is different! The training involves discussions with fellow officers and providing an inside look at what is working and what is not. It is also an opportunity to share ideas, explore effective tactics and learn how to be successful from your fellow officers. Each year, I hear from officers that they find a great deal of benefit from the winter training sessions and how it has helped them AND their club achieve Distinguished status or higher.
Round 2 Club Officer Training helps to provide the following:
- Encourage planning and growth
- Apply the concepts of effective leadership
- Answer questions and stimulate discussion
- Motivate participants to work together as team members
- Incorporate the training and educational programs published by Toastmasters International
- Provide the tools to achieve in the Distinguished Club and Distinguished District programs
- Give participants a practical understanding of their roles and responsibilities
- Urge participants to read, review and use handbooks, manuals and other materials to achieve success as an officer
If we want our clubs and officers to be successful, it is important to ensure officers have the knowledge and tools they need. Club officer training provides the very knowledge and tools needed. Trained club officers can result in more satisfied members, more exciting club meetings, more new members and more Distinguished Clubs overall.
If you are a club officer for the 2017-2018 Toastmasters year and you were not able to attend the Winter Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) 2 weeks ago I ask for you to attend one of the five Division Sponsored Make Up TLI sessions being hosted in the months of January and February as all club officer training must be completed before by February 28, 2018.
Please reach out to me for any additional information, I look forward to seeing you at a training session soon.
